Game of Thrones season 7 continues this Sunday with episode 5, “Eastwatch,” an episode that should set the stage for the finale in two weeks.

When Game of Thrones season 7 will be over in three weeks. Let that sit with you for a moment. But, don’t worry, because “Eastwatch” appears to be an epic set-up for the final two episodes of the season. Episode 705 will pick up right where 704, “The Spoils of War” left off at the now burned-to-a-crisp Lannister loot train.

Daenerys Targaryen is demanding the defeated forces of House Lannister, those who aren’t piles of ash, to swear fealty to her, and “bend the knee.” Here’s the preview.

We don’t know who survived the battle. Is Rickon…I mean Dickon still breathing? What about his a-hole of a father, Randyl Tarly? Was Jaime Lannister able to remove his armor with one hand, as well as his heavy golden hand, and swim to the surface? Or, did Bronn swim down and do it for him? We’ll find out tonight, that’s for sure.

The director of last week’s episode, Matt Shackman, directed tonight’s episode, and that’s a good thing. Last week marked Shackman’s Game of Thrones debut, and he knocked it out of the park. Having him direct back to back episodes ensures continuity, and a smooth transition from the chaos of war to the fall out afterward.

Hopefully, Jaime Lannister and Dickon Tarly both made it out of the “Loot Train Battle” alive, so Jaime can keep that name joke running to the season 7 finale.
