Tyrion and Jaime reunite on Game of Thrones but Gendry and Jon steal the show

The Starks aren’t the only ones that can have reunions on Game of Thrones.

Tyrion and Jaime had a reunion on Game of Thrones episode 705, “Easwatch,” and while it wasn’t as heartwarming as when the Stark kids did it last week, it was still great, none the less. And, in an episode that saw a father and a son get burned to ash by Drogon, and two sisters squabble over a misunderstanding, I suppose we’ll just have to take what we can get.

Not to be outdone, Gendry and Jon had a reunion of another sort. Gendry is the bastard of Robert Baratheon and Jon was raised by — and for all he knows is the bastard son of — Ned Stark. Robert and Ned were best friends in their youth, and they defeated the Mad King together.

Gendry knows how to swing a warhammer just like his father before him, and Jon knows how to command men like his father/uncle before him (but he’s better at swinging Valyrian steel swords).

What immediately stands out to me — besides the fact that Davos acknowledged the internet with his rowing comment —  is how willing Gendry was to join Davos, with hardly any word on where they were going or what they were doing.

Jon and Gendry’s conversation was fantastic. Jon grew up learning how Ned and Robert won their war and all Gendry knew was basically nothing besides the fact that King Robert won his Rebellion, but hey, at least he met Ned once, and he liked him. We can’t wait to see how these two get along in the final two episodes of season 7.
