Video: The Night King takes aim at Viserion on Game of Thrones “Beyond the Wall”
Viserion found himself in the crosshairs of the Night King on Game of Thrones episode 706, “Beyond the Wall.”
Goddammit, Game of Thrones, why don’t you like nice things? During an epic battle that saw Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons rain down hellfire onto the Night King’s army, in an attempt to rescue Jon Snow and his group, the Night King himself hurled a spear that felled a mighty and beautiful creature.
Let’s set the scene: Apparently, the Night King has Olympic javelin hurling strength along with pinpoint accuracy. And, while a seasoned warrior like Bronn, trained in the art of war, firing a mechanized crossbow at Dany’s largest dragon, missed, the Night King was able to hit Viserion without so much as a second thought.
Seriously though, I don’t think I could ever watch that scene again. Rhaegal and Drogon’s reactions to the death of their brother simply gutted me, and the real monsters here are showrunners Benioff and Weiss for making us live through that pain.
Viserion was born as a group of three dragons hatched to Daenerys Targaryen after she set them in the funeral pyre of her deceased husband, Khal Drogo. His color pattern was considered cream and gold, and he was named for Dany’s brother, Viserys.
