Gotham’s rain-drenched streets are about to become a little more populated as two new characters have been cast for Season 4, adding, even more, members to the series’ ever-growing ensemble.

When FOX shared a sneak peek of the upcoming season of Gotham at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, fans were teased over the prospect of new villains and new secrets unfurling faster than the caped crusader’s wings.

With the threat-level reaching new heights, Gotham’s heroes will need to band together to fight against the most depraved and deranged villains of the crime-ridden city, but only doom awaits the series’ burgeoning dark knight.

According to TVLine, there is a dangerous, double-edged character making her way to Gotham for Season 4, who will serve as an occasional ally as well as a formidable foe in one of Gotham City’s most dilapidated neighbourhoods.

Marina Benedict is set to play Cherry – the owner of a fight club in The Narrows, smack bang in the middle of the most run-down part of town, where she will use her business acumen to spawn seats of power.

Described as “edgy and tough”, we can expect Cherry to become acquainted with the likes of Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) and Solomon Grundy (Drew Powell), amongst other iconic villains, as they move through the fight club.

This is not the first time that Benedict has been cast in a villainous role, as she recently appeared as crazed and fearless assassin Emily “A&W” Blake in Prison Break: Resurrection.

Another new addition to the cast of the DC Comics adaptation is Benjamin Stockham who will be guest starring as Alex Winthrop, friend to the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).

Described as “the bookish grandson of a museum curator”, Alex will first come into contact with Bruce when tracking a mysterious artifact. The two teenagers will be forced to go on the run as “dangerous forces” target the object, ultimately pushing Bruce into a decision that “no one should ever have to make.”

Stockham’s previous TV credits include single-camera sitcom 1600 Penn and blended family comedy Sons of Tucson. He has also appeared in minor roles in Rizzoli & Isles, CSI: NY, NCIS and Criminal Minds.

The newcomers are joining the current comic-book cast alongside Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth.
