More Negan and Carl

When Negan took Daryl with him in Season 7, there were thoughts that Daryl was the surrogate for Carl in that storyline from the comics. However, that isn’t what happened and Carl still went to kill Negan, only to fail and end up impressing Negan a great deal. Both Carl and Negan develop an interesting relationship throughout the comics that even goes beyond the Great War (slight spoiler there).

Negan really respects Carl and Rick and grows to respect Carl more as time goes on. There is a lot of expectations that Carl is who will end up as the main protagonist in the comics by the time they come to an end and it is his relationship with Negan that forms who he becomes, almost as much as being the son of Rick Grimes. Hopefully, The Walking Dead Season 8 continues to show the development of the Carl and Negan relationship.

Carl has a huge role to play in the future of the Walking Dead. Having more experience battling and learning from Negan will do a lot to make him more than just the son of Rick Grimes.
