It’s nearing the end of October which means that television shows are airing their Halloween specials before November begins! 30. Grey’s Anatomy – “Haunt You Every Day”

Before Dylan Minnette would go on to star on the hit Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why, he had a memorable stint on this medical drama. As a boy without ears, he’s considered one of the most notable and adorable cases since the beginning of the show. Unlike a lot of the drama on the series, Ryan the earless boy gets a happy ending despite not having the money to pay for an operation. Turns out, he shows up on Mark Sloan’s office doorstep hoping to convince the plastic surgeon to perform the operation for free. While all of the other doctors/nurses hate Dr. Sloan enough to refuse to him any favors, Meredith convinces enough staff to jump on board with the surgery free of charge.

Ryan turns out to be a bright light in Meredith’s day since she’s spending the holiday haunted by her recently deceased mother. In a typical move, she’s been keeping her mother’s ashes inside her work locker much to disgust of her fellow doctors. Anyone who watches the show knows how strained that mother-daughter relationship was and even in death she finds a way to make her child question every step. The truth is, Meredith isn’t exactly sure what to make of her mother and her death has only confused her more. However, Ryan telling a story about flushing his goldfish down the toilet so he could rejoin the sea inspires the lost surgeon to dump her mother’s ashes down one of the hospital sinks.
