8. Brooklyn Nine-Nine – “Halloween IV”

All of the characters in Brooklyn Nine-Nine are members of the police force with the exception of Gina.. That’s what makes “Halloween Part IV,” so fantastic, the triumphant rise to the top by the show’s only non-detective. While all the other members of the force are focused on stealing the plaque from each other, they all forget about Gina. She keeps replacing their stolen plaques with fakes so everyone thinks they won until she turns on a black light to reveal the message “heists are dumb”.  Her win is only made funnier by the fact that she’s missing her two front teeth and lisps through her victory speech rather than just putting the fake teeth back in.

It’s always fun to see unusual onscreen matchups which happens a lot in the episode. Holt poaches Boyle from Jake to form a particularly funny partnership which sends the latter through a loop. Meanwhile, Jake has to make due with a male prostitute named Bill who is also his best friend’s body double. In the meantime, Rosa and Amy team up for many hilarious scenes that involve bonding over The Babysitter’s Club novels despite the latter’s stoic exterior. Terry gets stuck with Scully and Hitchcock who are hilariously bad at their only job of watching the sergeant. It seems like every year the heists get better on this show and it’s always an enjoyable thirty minutes to see the ridiculous hijinks ensue. For fans of the holiday, this is definitely an episode worth checking out.
