Dynasty + Valor — F+F

Trying to make a return to their soap opera brand, The CW tried to push a modern day remake of Dynasty. However, the show has lost all of the heart that the original series had despite the constant drama that ensued. It’s clear that the writing is to fault when it comes to adapting this soap opera, but the poor acting doesn’t help. Whether they’re over-acting on purpose or actually bad at their jobs is what’s unclear and it takes a toll on viewers. Luckily for The CW, their streaming deal with Netflix means that this flop is making money despite how terrible the show is. Profit or not, viewers are just not tuning in and this series seems destined to finish after its freshman run.

However, the network’s passion project also fails on every account. Valor is The CW’s first try at a military drama and it understandably did not grab enough viewers. This season there are so many military shows airing and not enough time for that fan base to watch all of the shows. With the others touting big name actors as their leads (such as David Boreanaz), it’s no surprise that this is the series that fell to the wayside. While the network has snagged some unique series that stand out, like Jane the Virgin or Crazy Ex-GirlfriendValor is a return to the formula that failed him. With no one to root for on this show about military bravery and the mishandling of a drug abuse storyline has spelled an early death for this drama.
