2018 is here and there’s a whole new roster of TV shows to flip through.

However, quite a few series have already begun to stand out from the rest with positive buzz circulating their premieres. With so many A-List stars and visionaries beginning to join the television landscape, it’s an exciting time to watch TV shows on the silver screen.

With that in mind, let’s get right into it.

20. Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams (Amazon) – January 12

Amazon’s answer to Black Mirror is adapting their anthology series based on of Philip K. Dick’s short stories. An anthology series through and through, each episode deals with a different storyline and setting to leave the viewer with a different lesson.

Debuting to strong critical reviews, Electric Dreams rang in 2018 as one of the top shows to binge. It also marks one of the first shows within Amazon’s reinvention of their streaming service after canceling a handful of shows. While the ratings have dropped a bit in the UK, the boost from the streaming service should be enough to launch the series to popularity.

While Black Mirror really deals with the nightmare that technology could become, Electric Dreams is more of a science fiction anthology. The series is most likely not going to win over any hard-core fans of the genre, but it should have at least one episode that can be appreciated.

Philip K. Dick has done a terrific job crafting stories that will resonate with fans outside of the genre and that’s where a lot of viewers will come from. Not to mention, Amazon managed to get a lot of fantastic actors to join the series for single episode runs. This also marks the network’s first foray into weekly releases rather than allowing the entire season to be binged. In 2018 with the drive for higher quality television, Electric Dreams is a hit for the streaming service that has constantly found itself underperforming compared to Netflix or Hulu.
