10. A.P. Bio (NBC) – March 1

A.P. Bio might have stolen one of the leads from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia but this NBC show looks like a hit. A sitcom meant to continue NBC’s hot streak of good comedies, A.P. Bio has a lot of potential even with the younger cast.  It looks like it will appeal to a wider audience than Will and Grace and requires less attention than The Good Place. That sounds like a knock (it isn’t) but broadcast television has long been searching for a replacement for the fun mindless comedies like How I Met Your Mother and Friends that A.P. Bio might actually be the answer.

The story is about Jack Griffin, a philosophy graduate who misses the opportunity to work at his dream job. Instead, he gets stuck teaching the titular class at a local high school where he slowly plots to take down his arch nemesis who also happened to steal his job. His boss is the delightful Patton Oswalt, who gets the role of being the straight man to Griffin’s comedic one.

Principal Durbin should be fantastic considering Oswalt has been a delight in almost every show he’s been on. The kids and fellow teachers are all played by relative newcomers which is always a good sign for network shows try to build up a series starring a younger cast. NBC might finally be returning to the king of comedy in 2018 with Will and Grace, The Good Place, Superstore, and now A.P. Bio on its slate.
