10. Beavis and Butt-Head / Daria

In 1992, Mike Judge released an animated short titled Frog Baseball and introduced the characters of Beavis and Butt-Head. MTV liked what they saw and hired Judge to develop the show for the music network, which turned into a massive cult phenomenon.

This was an adult cartoon that skewered the music industry and the music videos that MTV made a living showing. Beavis and Butt-Head were two teenagers who loved heavy metal and had no respect for authority or anything else, other than sitting on the couch and making fun of everything. The show intercut real music videos, and the boys comment on them, either loving every minute, making fun of everything about it, or in some cases singing along – often mistaking all the words.

The show received a lot of flack, especially from conservative groups who blasted its reckless humor, which included a love of fire and dangerous pranks. Despite this, Beavis and Butt-Head lasted seven seasons, with an eighth coming 14 years after the original series was canceled, for 222 total episodes and one movie.

In 1997, Mike Judge took the character of Daria from the series and gave her a spin-off of her own. However, Judge didn’t run that show, and it went to Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis, the latter of which gave Daria a popular slant for female viewers, many of which were turned away from the raunchy humor of Beavis and Butt-HeadDaria lasted five seasons and 70 episodes.
