4. Star Wars: The Clone Wars

If Star Wars: The Last Jedi proves anything, it is that Star Wars fans can’t agree on anything, with half of them living in the past and half of them wanting new stories for the future. However, one thing that almost all Star Wars fans can agree on is that Star Wars: The Clone Wars is almost universally beloved. This is a show that adults and their kids can watch together and discover a period in the Jedi’s tales that almost never fails to entertain.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars takes place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. There was another series called Star Wars Rebels that took place after Sith but before A New Hope, and while that was a great cartoon as well, Clone Wars just stands above almost anything Star Wars related, as easily above the prequels that it fleshes out.

The original Clone Wars series aired on Cartoon Network from 2003 until 2005 and was helmed by Genndy Tartakovsky, fresh off his work on Samurai Jack. The series focused on Jedi Knights and clone troopers battling the battle droid armies and included the fantastic General Grievous. This critically acclaimed series was followed by a 2008 series that lasted for six seasons with 121 episodes.

While the original Clone Wars had the clear Tartakovsky style, the new one was pure CGI and had many actors from the movies return to voice the characters as they battled Grievous and Dooku, among others. The series ended with the sixth season airing on Netflix to finish the story before Disney re-started the movies.
