23. Aqua Teen Hunger Force

There is honestly no way to explain Aqua Teen Hunger Force to someone who has never seen this adult cartoon series. Three aliens, a shake named Master Shake, a container of french fries named Frylock and a meatball named Meatwad, live together as roommates and have adventures. The show started out in 2000 as a spinoff of Space Ghost Coast to Coast and had the three as alien superheroes who fought evil. As the years went on, that theme had little to do with the series.

Instead, the synopsis more realistically is that sociopathic liar Master Shake does everything he can to drive Frylock crazy while using the innocent and naive Meatwad to achieve his goals and desires. Also featuring in was a disgruntled next-door neighbor named Carl Brutananadilewsi. There are also Mooninites, which are aliens that look like they came straight from an old Atari video game, and lots of cameos.

This is a show that is in no way at all meant for kids. Airing on Cartoon Network for one season before moving over to Adult Swim, it lasted a very impressive 11 seasons with 139 total episodes and even had a movie released called Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters. That title alone should tell you what to imagine when watching the cartoon.

This adult cartoon, at the time, was the longest-running animated original series on Adult Swim. Despite its cancellation after 11 seasons, Carl Brutananadilewski could still be found online with Carl’s Stone Cold Lock of the Century of the Week, lasting from 2007 through 2016, and Pregame Prognostifications from the Pigskin Wyzzard debuting in 2017.
