20. Trinity Killer

It shouldn’t be a shock to Dexter viewers to see the Trinity Killer on this list after John Lithgow won a couple of awards for his portrayal of the serial killer. He’s exactly the kind of man that suburban neighborhood’s fear because of how easily he’s able to blend in with the other families. For thirty years he’s an “upstanding” member of the community while committing some heinous murders.

He gets his name from the three different killing strategies he has: first slices a woman’s throat in a bathtub, second he has a woman jump off a building, and finally, he kills a man with a hammer. After it is discovered that he also abducts young boys and forces them to reenact a scene from his childhood before burying them alive.

Basically, the Trinity Killer is the worst kind of serial killer because he’s more than willing to murder anyone who crosses his path and in an incredibly violent way.

However, the most memorable death that the Trinity Killer brought to the show was that of Rita Morgan. In the series’ most shocking scene, poor Dexter walks into the bathroom where his infant son cries in the pool of his wife’s blood as she lays dead in the bathtub. It’s this moment that sticks with fans of the show because it marks when the series hit its absolute greatest and the time when it started to dip in quality.

As a villain, he becomes one of the most hated men in Dexter history and marks the last time the show was truly great.
