Chandler Riggs mocks Carl’s Walking Dead death on Twitter
By Shawn Lealos
When The Walking Dead killed off Carl Grimes in the midseason premiere, fans expressed shock and outrage and now actor Chandler Riggs is egging things on.
The death of Carl Grimes was controversial, to say the least. Carl is still alive in The Walking Dead comic books and actually plays a large role in storylines taking place after the All-Out War with Negan ends. Not only that, but many fans think this is Carl’s story and he will be the leader when Rick Grimes finally dies.
Also, there was controversy when actor Chandler Riggs dad lashed out at The Walking Dead producers, saying they fired his son and disputed the rumors that Chandler wanted to leave the show to focus on school. Whatever the reasons, ratings for The Walking Dead have dropped hard and fans have rebelled due to both weak storytelling and changes, including deaths like those to Carl.
Whatever the reason, Carl Grimes is dead and Chandler Riggs is now a former cast member. He is also a former cast member with a Twitter account and some free time on his hands. Riggs has always poked fun at The Walking Dead and he just poked fun at his character’s death.
Straight up, Carl Grimes was shot in the head, with the bullet taking out his eye and leaving a gaping hole. Carl survived that gunshot. He then died because he tripped over a tree root and a Walker bit him — as Chandler Riggs pointed out, despite proving over and over again how great he is at surviving.
Now, there is the fact that Scott Gimple might be making a point that anyone can die — no matter how durable they have been up to this point. However, this is television and having a strong character that has survived a freaking bullet to the head dying because he tripped over a tree root seems very lame.
Chandler Riggs knows this.

For those fans who wondered how The Walking Dead TV show will move on after Carl Grimes’ death — considering his important role in the comics — Gimole said that other characters will take on the roles that Carl did in the comics. Of course, this also means that The Walking Dead should have no problem killing off Maggie if they can’t sign her to a new deal — and she is as important as Carl in the comics.
For fans of the Robert Kirkman books, it looks like The Walking Dead TV show is starting to become very distant from the stories that you love.
