Twitter went nuts when Rick and Negan fought on this week’s Walking Dead

After two years of build, Rick Grimes and Negan finally faced off and had the best battle on The Walking Dead in a very long time.
Rick, fresh off burying his son Carl and hearing Negan tell him that it was all Rick’s fault, finally found Negan and cut him off as The Saviors were on their way to battle the survivors at The Hilltop.
While fans have blasted both season’s seven and eight for different reasons (seven was too boring and eight had the action but was done in an unsatisfactory way), things picked up here with “The Key.” Finally, for the first time this season, fans got excited and took to Twitter to showcase their happiness with what happened.
It all started with fans calling this the “best episode” of The Walking Dead this season.

With that in mind, the biggest and best comments, memes and gifs came thanks to the knock-down, drag-out fight between Rick Grimes and Negan, and the fact that Rick got his hands on Lucille — something that means more to Negan than anything in the world.
With the seasons seeming to paint Negan in the lightest of brush strokes, he is finally getting interesting — and that fight with Rick might have put him over the top when it comes to great moments. The only thing that could possibly beat that is when Negan gets his hands on Simon for messing everything up.
