Sneaky Pete gets season 3, relocates to California

Sneaky Pete may have just released its second season earlier this month, but it’s already planning its third season and is relocating from New York to California to take advantage of a tax credit program.

The series, starring Giovanni Ribisi and created by Bryan Cranston and David Shore, takes place mainly in Bridgeport, Connecticut and New York City.

Production for the first two seasons has been based in the state of New York, but for its third season — while presumably the story will be set in the same location — production has moved to California.

California instated a tax credit program eight years ago to discourage the exodus of television production to other states with bigger incentives. Three years ago the state expanded its tax credit program, of which Sneaky Pete is the 13th series to take advantage.

“Our success with these relocating projects shows how the tax credit is working to affirm California’s status as the preferred choice for TV production,” said California Film Commission executive director Amy Lemisch.

Sneaky Pete season 2 left off with Marius planning to win back the family’s trust, but with Julia about to uncover the truth about his true identity. I think it’s fairly likely that Julia will be persuaded to keep Marius’s secret, which will bring the two of them closer together.

Maybe they can even run a real con together. I also want to see more of Detective Joyce Roby. She’s already covered up Audrey’s crime and still wants to see more of Taylor.

What kind of person is this career closer who is willing to run with an “official” story to protect a stranger?
