In season 7, Homeland is back to hitting high notes in a world of competing interests and fluctuating, unstable alliances.

In one of the best half-seasons yet, Homeland has plenty of energy and intrigue in season 7, while being plenty relevant in the current political climate. A couple of new actors join the show while many of our favorite characters are crossing paths again in one of the best seasons yet.

We are in times of social and political unrest with heavy doses of vitriol and contentiousness. How has it come to this? The new technologies and media strategies being utilized by corporations are being hijacked by competing foreign interests. The Homeland spy game is showing the new cyber warfare will involve civilian casualties from the beginning.

What really is believable these days? Who can you trust? How fast can you find out who you can trust? What are the angles being played? How can one get ahead of the competition? Easy. Have an inside man and cause chaos. In the times of open social networks and ingrained political system flaws. Creativity to achieve an end has never been more unrestrained.

Homeland season 7 has really been able to explore the more interesting spy elements of noncombat warfare. There is the new mole angle with the Russians always in the shadows. There are the new media — only one can only believe what one already believes. Any changing of ideas or questioning a plan sows seeds of doubt.

Homeland is beginning the most anticipated last half season in years. It has never been more relevant and many of the major characters are beginning to cross paths again. Have they learned their lessons or still falling for the same old tricks?
