President Keane must compromise

President Keane opens the season advocating for General McClendon’s death but instead sees him receive a life in prison sentence. Outraged after all the carnage he caused and the attempts on her life, she demands from her Chief of Staff David Wellington that something is done.

When those gloves are dropped into the bag while McClendon collapses to his death, the season had its intrigue. Now Homeland Season 7 is building upon that intrigue and has a gripping season that should have viewers coming back.

President Keane almost had her presidency hijacked during the election. She had to be sworn into office in private. Once in office, O’Keefe’s antics which prove fatal at the Elkins compound in Lucasville dominate the news cycle.

President Elizabeth Keane starts to realize she has lost control of the situation and the message just as Saul did in Lucasville. Her approach needs to be changed to navigate these obstacles. In this season, fans get to see her learn on the job.

Wellington’s poor judgment in the response continues to stifle any of the efforts she feels worthy of Presidential attention. Choosing to turn in his resignation letter via airdrop right before POTUS Keane must do a ceremony for his terrible air strike is just poor form.

Keane’s response, and especially her reactions to Wellington’s description of the relationship leading to the resignation, is her first smart political move. She is learning on the job. How will she handle the coming bombshell?
