Coming to Netflix: V Wars!
By Ruby LeRouge
Jonathan Maberry’s Vampire comic series V Wars, released by IDW, has been optioned by Netflix!
Apparently keen to continue living with the undead and beautiful, The Vampire Diaries‘ Ian Somerhalder will star in this vampire drama.
The comic follows a doctor named Luther Swan (Somerhalder), whose best buddy contracts a virus, turning him into a creature of the night. Dr. Swan must find a way to fight the spread of the virus before all-out war breaks out between human and vampire kind.

No word yet on who else will appear in this vamp saga, but according to Forbes, filming will begin in Canada this summer for the first 10 episode season.
Glenn Davis and William Laurin, who have worked together on both John Woo’s Once a Thief and the television series Aftermath (which bears the slightest resemblance), will head up this endeavor.
So, we have an actor adept at being a vamp and two showrunners who have already helmed a supernatural apocalyptic drama. It sounds like bringing the V Wars comic to the small screen already has a solid start.
But, will it manage to have that special something that garners the fan base of shows like The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones? There’s an obvious thirst among supernatural genre fans for new content, but it seems to be a delicate balance between action and drama.
