Michael C. Hall stars in the first trailer for Netflix’s new thriller series Safe.

Netflix has just released the first trailer for Safe — their new thriller series starring Dexter’s Michael C. Hall. Hall plays Tom, a recently widowed doctor who has moved to a gated community to raise his two teenage daughters.

Despite the safety promised by the neighborhood, his daughter Jenny goes missing and everyone is a suspect. Tom races to untangle the mystery surrounding Jenny’s disappearance and to bring her home safe. The series is set in the UK with Hall putting on his best English accent.

If the trailer is anything to go by, Safe looks like an excellent and exciting mystery thriller with plenty of suspects. Even Tom and his daughter Jenny seem to have their own secrets, which may or may not be related to Jenny’s disappearance, but definitely, have to do with the death of Tom’s wife.

Also exciting — though much less high profile than Hall — is the appearance of well known UK character actor Marc Warren as Pete. He is perhaps best known to US audiences as Albert Blithe in Band of Brothers or as Nick Saverese in The Good Wife.

He is a staple in British television and a perfect choice for what looks like a quirky, funny, and potentially sketchy character.

Michael C. Hall, of course, is best known for his role as the title character on the Showtime series Dexter. Hall has not starred in a series since Dexter ended in 2013, but has stayed busy taking supporting roles and working on stage.

He was one of the last people to work with David Bowie when he played the lead role of Thomas Newton in the off-broadway/West End musical Lazarus in 2016.

He has also appeared on Broadway as the Emcee in Cabaret and as Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch – all of which are a far cry from Dexter Morgan or Tom in Safe.

Safe premieres on Netflix May 10.
