Former Battlestar Galactica and Longmire star, Katee Sackhoff will lead the Netflix science fiction drama, Another Life.

Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of the original series, Another Life, starring Katee Sackhoff, Deadline reports. The series will be produced by Halfire Entertainment, which also brought the award-winning Margaret Atwood-adaptation, Alias Grace, to Netflix.

Aaron Martin is creator and showrunner of Another Life. He previously wrote for and produced shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation, Saving Hope, and Slasher.

Noreen Halpern will serve as executive producer for Halfire Entertainment. In addition to Alias Grace, Halpern produced the series Rookie Blue and The Firm.

Deadline summarized the show this way:

"Another Life centers on astronaut Niko Breckinridge (Sackhoff) who is focused on searching for alien intelligence. She leads a crew on a mission to explore the genesis of an alien artifact. As Niko and her young crew investigate, they face unimaginable danger on what might very well be a one-way mission."

Sackhoff is perhaps best known for her role as Kara “Starbuck” Thrace in Sci-Fi Channel’s beloved reimagining of Battlestar Galactica. More recently, she starred in the drama Longmire for six seasons.

That series started life on A&E but was picked up by Netflix for its last three seasons after being canceled by the cable channel. This season she has recurred as a villainous meta-human on The CW’s The Flash.

Another Life seems like a good fit for Netflix. Genre shows like Stranger Things have proven wildly successful for the streaming service.
