Benedict Cumberbatch reacts to Sherlock co-star

Benedict Cumberbatch responded to Martin Freeman’s comments attacking fans of Sherlock–and it was epic.
It’s no shocker that since Sherlock aired last year fans have been anticipating another season or at least another episode. If you watched the finale, you know it very much felt like the series was coming to a conclusion, but fans can still hope, right?
Back in March, Martin Freeman, who plays the iconic Dr. Watson, conveyed his feelings regarding the return of the show by saying fans’ expectations and obsessions made it less fun to work on the show.
Recently, co-star Benedict Cumberbatch reacted to Freeman’s comment in The Telegraph:
"“It’s pretty pathetic if that’s all it takes to let you not want to take a grip of your reality. What, because of expectations? I don’t know. I don’t necessarily agree with that… I just don’t feel affected by that in the same way, I have to say.”"
The chances of Sherlock returning are looking dimmer by the moment and with both Cumberbatch and Freeman a part of the Marvel universe, it’s safe to assume we won’t be getting any new episodes for the time being.
Freeman has expressed his annoyance with fan expectations in the past, but this is the first time Cumberbatch expressed his point of view on the matter.
It is an interesting conundrum when one compares both actors point of view. The stress and expectations of returning more frequently despite schedules can take a toll on anyone, but the longer time gaps between seasons also give time to produce more quality material.

Does this feud guarantee that the future of Sherlock is doomed? We hope not, but until then we always have the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get our fill of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
