UnReal Making the Move to Hulu for Season Four

UnReal, the scripted show about a reality show will be moving to Hulu for its fourth, and likely final, season, Deadline reports.

The first three seasons of the drama were broadcast on Lifetime, with the latest one ending its run in April. But the series never did that well with live viewers.

On the other hand, UnReal is popular with digital viewers and binge watchers. This makes it a good fit for Hulu, which already offers the show for on-demand viewing after it’s broadcast run. (Season 3 is not yet available on the streaming service).

More from Hulu

Starring Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer, UnReal is about the inner workings of a Bachelor-like reality dating show called Everlasting. It centers around one of the show’s producers (Appleby) as she works to stir up drama between Everlasting‘s contestant in order to please her executive producer boss (Zimmer).

The show was created by Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro.

The first season of UnReal was critically acclaimed. It also garnered two Emmy nominations and won a Peabody Award. It’s fan following is small but passionate.

However, the series has lost some of its luster over the last couple seasons as it’s struggled to match the first season’s creative highs.

While right now it is expected that the upcoming season of UnReal on Hulu will be the show’s last, if it does well in the streaming format, that decision could be revisited.
