‘V-Wars’ adds Adrian Holmes and Jacky Lai to Netflix cast
By Tara Lloyd
Adrian Holmes (Arrow) and Jacky Lai (Beyond) will be joining Ian Somerhalder in the upcoming Netflix vampire drama V-Wars.
The ten-episode series is based on the prose collections named V-Wars, by New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Maberry.
The four books of the V-Wars chronicles follow the impact and aftermath of the first Vampire War.
It’s the second time Somerhalder has appeared in a vampiric television show. He previously played the vampire Damon on The Vampire Diaries, which ended in 2017 after eight seasons.
This time he’ll be switching it up and playing a human.

Somerhalder plays Dr. Luther Swann, who is left devastated when his best friend Michael Fayne (Holmes) succumbs to a mysterious virus that causes him to become a brutal, savage predator hellbent on killing – and feeding on – every human he can get his hands on.
As the disease spreads and more people fall victim to the infected predators, society is collapsing and starts to split into groups.
Survivors begin to pit each other against the vampires, while Fayne has used his charisma, quick thinking and strategic sense to rise up as the powerful vampire leader.
It’s up to Swann to figure out what’s happening and find a cure for the disease.
Lai will be playing Kaylee Vo, an “Assange-like” online journalist who makes a lot of enemies when she breaks the biggest story of her career. She’s described as a fierce, strong character who’s willing to do anything in order to get ahead.
Netflix gained the rights to V-Wars after it was dropped by Entertainment One. The original writers and producers are no longer attached.
