Ricky Gervais adds cast members to his Netflix comedy

Ricky Gervais has begun production on his new Netflix comedy and rounded out the cast with some new additions.

Production for the new Ricky Gervais comedy on NetflixAfter Life, is currently underway in London, and his cast has officially been set. Stars from Doctor WhoDownton Abbey, and Game of Thrones will all be a part of the comedy series.

Some of the cast members include Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey and Doctor Who) and David Bradley (Harry Potter and Game of Thrones), amongst many more! Ricky Gervais will star, direct, and executive produce the series and is also the creator.

The series is about a man named Tony (Ricky Gervais) who has what appears to be a perfect life. But the death of his wife changes him, and after he ponders about ending his life, he decides to do the complete opposite.

Instead, he wants to live as long as possible in the world so he can do whatever he likes and say whatever he likes. The story revolves around this goal he sets for himself, and those around him try to keep the person they once knew around.

Joining Gervais as an executive producer is Charlie Hanson, who also worked with him on Derek and Extras. Netflix ordered six episodes of the half-hour comedy series about two months ago, and Gervais is quickly working on bringing it to life. He is excited about the cast he has gathered as he told Deadline in an interview:

"“This cast combines the best of the new breed of great British comedy talent with some of the wonderful alumni of my previous shows.”"

No release date has been set as of yet, but we look forward to seeing what he comes up with! This comedy series continues Gervais’ relationship with Netflix who has previously worked with him on movies and stand-up specials.
