Mayans MC will intersect with Sons of Anarchy eventually

Mayans MC made a grand appearance at their Hall H debut at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con with information about the upcoming premiere season and embarking on the spin-off journey.

Mayans MC was in the San Diego Comic-Con spirit this week and got to firsthand experience this beautiful world of fandom and the amazing people within it. On the last day of SDCC, the series held their panel at Hall H and discussed the upcoming season and what it means to be a spin-off an iconic, beloved series.

More from Mayans MC

Co-creator Kurt Sutter had some exciting news for fans of Sons of Anarchy who were eager to learn whether or not Mayans MC would ever connect the storylines between the two. Yes, it will–eventually.

"“Right now there is no intersecting stories but Sons in a big world. We’ll see those points of intersection this season and throughout the series as well.”"

Sutter also said that both shows exist in the same world and Mayans MC will pick up a little bit after where the SOA finale ended.

Also, a part of Sunday’s panel were Elgin James, EP/director Norberto Barba, SOA alum Emilio Rivera, J. D. Pardo, Edward James Olmos, Clayton Cardenas, Sarah Bolger, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Antonio Jaramillo, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral, Danny Pino, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, and Vincent “Rocco” Vargas.

Fans in attendance got a sneak peek at the Mayans MC pilot–about 15 minutes worth! And while the tone of the pilot so far is very much like SOA, it’s safe to say the new series has a voice and tone unique to the story it wants to tell.
