10/10 All American – 9:00 PM

Out of all the new Fall TV shows on The CW, All American has the most potential. Actor Taye Diggs leads the cast, which is a remarkable grab for the network. The story will follow Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) a talented football player from South L.A. who is offered the opportunity to play at a better school for Diggs’ character Billy Baker. The trailer feels like a combination of Friday Night Lights and Gossip Girl which is probably what it was going for. As long as the show stays strong with a compelling narrative rather than collapsing into a soapy mess, All American could be a surprise hit.

10/14 Charmed – 9:00 PM

The Charmed reboot is happening no matter how many fans continue to plead for a revival instead. At the end of the day, one of the main actors insulted the original fanbase on Twitter, the network has shown absolutely no care for the original series, and the cast has been left doing damage control as the anger grows. Basically, a lot of original fans probably won’t be tuning in past the first episode. However, if The CW is trying to create a new fandom then it’s possible they don’t care. The network took down the first full-length trailer released for the series, which left a lot to be desired. Nonetheless, even if the show doesn’t do well in the ratings, it will probably earn a renewal so it might be worth checking out solely because it might be here to stay like the Dynasty reboot.

10/25 Legacies – 9:00 PM

Legacies will certainly be a test about how much a fanbase can put up with before quitting a creator. Julie Plec ended The Vampire Diaries with a lot of fans furious by the finale and even the later seasons. She rejoined the final season of The Originals which basically became one giant backdoor pilot for the new spin-off. Will those fans be tuning in for Legacies? Maybe. But the biggest problem will be getting new viewers enticed. If you didn’t watch The Vampire Diaries or The Originals then it’s unlikely you’ll know a lot of this world. For fans on the fence, Danielle Rose Russell was fantastic as teenage Hope despite the lackluster season and can definitely lead her own series.
