Say it ain’t so! HBO comedy series, Veep, is set to premiere seventh and final season in 2019.
Veep is ending and collectively all around the world, gasps and sighs are being heard over this very saddening news. We are not ready to say goodbye to the comedy that has brought so much laughter and sarcasm and such joy to our lives. But alas, the announcement earlier this week revealed that when the series returns in 2019, it will be it’s last.
Filming and production on season 7 of Veep were delayed due to Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. But in recent months the series has been in full production mode and gearing up to air its final and shortest season to date.
Reasons for why season 7 is being cut down to 7 episodes was not revealed, but at least we will get to bid farewell to the series properly. Louis-Dreyfus came forward about her health last September and said she learned about her diagnosis after winning her sixth Emmy for Veep.
Her treatment has been completed since the initial postponement announcement and once production began in early August, she took to Instagram to share a picture of their first table read.
While the news of the final season has fans disheartened, it’s certain the series will be bigger and better than ever before and all those working on it will ensure that the series gets the farewell it truly deserves. After all the critical acclaim Veep has received, it’s only fair that it goes out with a bang.
Veep will premiere its seventh and final season sometime in 2019 on HBO so until then re-watch and re-live some of the most hilarious and unforgettable moments of a series that is ending much too soon and characters that we aren’t prepared to say goodbye to yet.
