20. Santa Clarita Diet

One thing that Netflix has achieved in its original series was bringing in some huge names to star in the shows. In the case of Santa Clarita Diet, it was Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant in a TV show that was unlike anything they had previously appeared in.

Drew Barrymore is Sheila, a suburban real estate agent who ends up turning into a zombie.

Now, this isn’t The Walking Dead-kind of a zombie but instead more like the IZombie sort of zombie that can still talk and fit into society but has an insatiable hunger for flesh.

Helping her get through this is her husband Joel (Olyphant). After turning in an amazing performance as Raylan Givens in Justified, Olyphant turns up the humor here as the hapless husband who works hard to get his wife what she needs while covering up the random deaths that occur thanks to the possible zombie outbreak.

There are also some great supporting actors involved including Andy Richter, Thomas Lennon, Portia de Rossi and Nathan Fillion — who ends up as a severed head that talks to the couple.

Santa Clarita Diet premiered on Netflix in February 2017 and had a second season hit the streaming service in March 2018. There will be a third season as well, as Netflix renewed the series to continue on in 2019.
