Netflix has announced its premiere date for the sequel of successful murder mystery docuseries ‘Making a Murderer’.

“The Truth Will Haunt You,” the trailer teases, as the pursuit of convicted murderer Steven Avery’s freedom continues in ‘Making a Murderer’ Part 2

It’s continuing a story with a highly debated conclusion. The ending of ‘Making a Murderer‘ spurred plenty of debate whether Steven Avery was innocent or guilty, but he ended up imprisoned for life for the murder of Teresa Halbach.

However, much time has passed since ‘Making a Murderer’ and now the Emmy-winning series is returning to Netflix October 19th for 10-episodes.

So what will Part 2 have to add to the Steven Avery story? A major focus is on the post-conviction process, including the heavy emotional toll its taken on all of those involved including both the Halbach’s and Avery’s family.

While Avery’s lawyers, Dean Strang and Jerry Buting, are no longer on the case (the duo were arguably one of the best parts about ‘Making a Murderer’), a new lawyer will take the forefront to prove his innocence. Kathleen Zellner is Avery’s post-conviction lawyer and she will be digging through all of the old evidence, as well as uncovering new evidence, to fight for Avery’s release.

Also locked up for a life sentence for the murder of Teresa Halbach, is Avery’s nephew, Brendan Dassey, who confessed to the murder at the age of sixteen.

Returning in Avery and Dassey’s corner are original post-conviction lawyers, Laura Nirider and Steven Drizin, who are still relentlessly pursuing Dassey’s innocence by proving that his confession was forced upon him (a major happening in Part I).

Will Zellner’s efforts result in the freedom of Avery and, or Dassey? Probably not, but ‘Making a Murderer’ Part 2 is sure to spark even more controversy from an already hotly debated Part I.
