Netflix’s The I-land casts Kyle Schmid for first season
Netflix and Neil Labute’s new sci-fi series The I-land adds Kyle Schmid to growing cast.
Kyle Schmid, no stranger to science fiction as a recurring actor on such shows as Lost Girl and Being Human with guest appearances on Arrow and Smallville, joins the cast of Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi adventure series The I-land.
The series is created by Neil LaBute (Van Helsing, Billy & Billie) and follows a group of people who wake up on a mysterious island with no memory of who they are or how they got there. Plus the island is trying to kill them.
Sounds kind of familiar, right?
“Faced with the island’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves — or die as their worst ones.”
Schmid will play Moses, “a bit of a hippie who has a generally laid-back vibe, even in the face of real danger.”
The series also stars Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns), who also serves as executive producer, as KC, Natalie Martinez (Under the Dome) plays Chase, and Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four) will play Brody.
Its anyone’s guess whether The I-land will be as much like J.J. Abrams’ Lost as it sounds, but my guess is that the writers and producers will do as much as they can to make the series as unique as possible while owning up to the superficial similarities.
The synopsis calls for 10 strangers on the island, so we can expect six more casting announcements before production can officially get underway.
The series will be comprised of ten episodes, but no news yet as to an estimated release date. The cast so far has plenty of experience acting in the sci-fi/fantasy genre, so I think we can expect them to set the tone exactly where it needs to be.
