3. Runaways

Netflix seems to have the market cornered on critically acclaimed comic book adaptations for streaming with Daredevil and Jessica Jones leading the way. However, there is also a Marvel original series on Hulu.

Runaways was a Marvel Comics book created by Brian K. Vaughan in 2003 about a group of kids who learn that their parents are actually secretly supervillains.

While their parents are villains, the world does not know it and they hold power as the kids witness their parents pulling off a brutal murder. As a result, the kids steal some resources from their parents and run away from home.

These kids also have powers, either naturally or through the resources they stole, and they end up on the run from the police, reported as runaways, and from their parents who want to get them back.

Hulu brought Runaways to the small screen after its attempt to become a movie fell through. The kids are fresh and not stereotypical at all and this is not only a great superhero series but is something that fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer might fall in love with as well (plus, James Marsters (Spike) is one of the bad guys).

The first season hit in 2017 and the second season is coming to Hulu this December, so there is plenty of time to catch up on the first 10 episodes now.
