NYCC: Behind-the scenes footage from Amazon’s Lore arrives at NYCC
By Shawn Lealos
Lore was a hugely popular podcast before it was an Amazon original streaming series.
This weekend at the New York Comic Con, Amazon Prime Video released some behind-the-scenes videos from the second season of Lore.
Amazon Prime Video held a panel for fans in the Hammerstein Ballroom with producers Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead) and Howard T. Owens, as well as podcast creator Aaron Mahnke and showrunner Sean Crouch.
Also on hand were actors Josh Bowman, Thomas Kretschmann, Alicia Witt and Elie Haddad.
For anyone who hasn’t seen Lore or are familiar with the podcast, each episode deals with disturbing and frightening tales that have helped develop today’s modern myths.
There are six episodes in the second season of Lore and they include both new tales from the podcast as well as original stories that have never been told on the podcast. The series mixes both archival and mixed media footage to narrative sequences.
The behind-the-scenes footage shown at the NYCC indicates that season 2 is all about the horror. Executive producer Sean Crouch says as much as the video starts while also saying that every story in the season is also entrenched in history.
They then talk about one of the stories from this season — Hinterkaifeck, which is a famous unsolved murder from Germany. Six people were murdered with a mattock, a couple, their daughter, her two children and their maid.
The money remained untouched and there was no motive. No arrests were ever made and the case closed in 1955. It was determined in 2007 that the crime will never be solved after so much time.
When talking about this specific case, Hurd said that the scariest stories are true. This specific story was told on the Lore podcast Episode 27 titled “On the Farm.”
The second season of Lore premieres on Oct. 19 on Amazon Prime Video.
