New The Walking Dead season 9 clip released by AMC

The long wait for Season 9 of The Walking Dead is almost over and now just two days away.  With that in mind, AMC has now released a new clip to Comicbook.com.

The clip itself is pretty brief at only about a minute long but that’s not to say there isn’t plenty of information to infer from it.

In the clip, Daryl talks to Rick about wanting to leave the Sanctuary and go over to the Hilltop to check up on Maggie and her baby.

Rick is less than thrilled with this decision because that would mean someone would have to take Daryl’s place at the Sanctuary and things are apparently spread pretty thin as it is.

Rick acknowledges that they’re “not together” because things have changed and Daryl responds that Rick was the one to change them.

This minute-long exchange hints at Rick and Daryl having a somewhat strained relationship which isn’t entirely surprising.

Given how season 8 ended with Daryl conspiring with Maggie and Jesus to go against Rick’s decision to keep Negan alive and there’s no telling what else happened between the two in the year and a half between seasons.

It will be interesting to see how this all ends up playing out as the threat of the Whisperer’s, not to mention the end of Rick’s run on the show loom ever closer.

Season 9 of The Walking Dead will premiere this Sunday night on AMC at 9 p.m. EST.
