Bravo’s upcoming true crime series Dirty John set to air this November.

The true crime series Dirty John will debut on Bravo at 10 p.m. EST on November 25. The show features Eric Bana as the smooth-talking con man John and Connie Britton will play Debra Newell, whose romance with John turns into something dark.

Britton is your typical woman in true crime stories; the kind who has everything but Mr. Right and when he shows up it’s too good to be true.

Which is when her daughters get suspicious and begin looking into John’s past. The show will also delve into Debra’s relationship with her mother to look into why she was a sitting duck for someone like John.

Which is incredibly important to include because otherwise, the story could just as easily be another movie of the week about love gone wrong.

To keep people interested in a series, there has to be something unique about the show that makes want to come back for more.

Also joining the cast is Emmy Award winner Jean Smart, who plays Debra’s mother. While she may be best known for her role on Designing Women, Smart has recently won widespread praise for her role as the matriarch of a crime family on Fargo.

The emphasis on family is appropriate, especially considering the series will debut on November 25, which is also the weekend of Thanksgiving.

The show is based on news articles and a hit true crime podcast. Connie Britton is no stranger to true crime dramas, having appeared as Faye Resnick in the extremely successful first season of American Crime Story.

Since a second season has already been ordered, it’s safe to say Bravo expects Dirty John to be a hit. But odds are good they are using the recent success of the crime anthologies American Crime Story and American Crime to measure the show’s potential success.
