True Detective season 3 finally has a premiere date! Check out when it will be airing and the first look into the upcoming season.
True Detective had an unsuccessful second season, in fact, people are still trying to process what exactly went down in the Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams starring sophomore season. But there is good news, the third season starring Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali, finally has a premiere date–and we can’t wait!
According to Deadline, True Detective season 3 will premiere on HBO on January 13th, 2019. Ali will be playing a character by the name of Wayne Hays who is a state police detective from Arkansas. The third season’s mystery will take place in the Ozarks (oooh, Ozark fans know what’s up!) and unfold a story that spans over three decades.
The list of people on board for this season is absolutely amazing and includes the following (as reported by Deadline):
"Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Ray Fisher, Michael Greyeyes, Jon Tenney, Deborah Ayorinde, Rhys Wakefield, Sarah Gadon, Emily Nelson, Brandon Flynn, Michael Graziadei, Josh Hopkins, Jodi Balfour and Mamie Gummer"

I don’t know about everyone else, but I am looking forward to what the third installment is going to bring and hoping it’s a stark difference than the season before it. Nic Pizzolatto wrote all the season 3 episodes apart from episode 4 which was co-written with Deadwood’s David Milch.
Along with Pizzolatto, Jeremy Saulnier is taking on the role of executive producer alongside three others that are returning for season 3 including Scott Stephens, Matthew McConaughey, and Woody Harrelson. McConaughey and Harrelson both starred in season 1, which fascinated viewers from the get-go with its alluring, creepy mystery.
Here’s to hoping that season 3 of True Detective lives up to the hype of it’s cast, story, and team!
True Detective airs on January 13th, 2019 on HBO at 9 PM EST!
