If you’re unfamiliar with the premise of the show, Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) is wife and mother of two whose husband (Michael Zegen) suddenly leaves her for another woman. When she takes her breakdown public and on stage at the Gaslight Café, she’s discovered by manager Susie Meyerson (Alex Borstein), who thinks Midge can hack it as a comedienne.

The trouble is, she has to keep this secret from her parents (Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle), who she lives with, and her estranged husband, Joel.

Hilarity ensues, not just from her clever and entertaining routines, but she’s also funny in life.
