Trailer for Mrs. Wilson released, starring Ruth Wilson as her grandmother
The first trailer for Masterpiece’s upcoming drama series Mrs. Wilson, starring Ruth Wilson, has been released.
Mrs. WIlson is inspired by the memoir of Alison Wilson, Ruth Wilson’s grandmother, who she portrays in the series, which she also executive produces.
The lush-looking drama centers on Alison, a woman who believes she is happily married. However, when her husband, spy novelist Alec Wilson (Game of Thrones‘ Iain Glen) dies, a woman shows up claiming that she’s Alec’s wife. Alison tries to prove her marriage’s validity and her husband’s love for her. Instead, she uncovers a web of disturbing secrets.
The series will be broadcast on PBS’ Masterpiece sometime in 2019.

Ruth Wilson is perhaps best known for her starring role as Alison on the Showtime series The Affair. Wilson’s character was suddenly killed off at the end of the series’ recently wrapped fourth season.
Speculation ran high about the reason Wilson left the series — and whether it was her decision or someone else’s. One source claimed that Wilson wanted to leave The Affair due to her desire to appear in Mrs. Wilson.
Given Wilson’s highly personal connection to the story, it makes sense that she would want to be available for Mrs. Wilson. The series, a co-production with BBC written by Anna Symon (Indian Summers), seems to offer an intriguing combination of a stranger-than-fiction plot in prestige drama packaging.
