FX’s The Americans snags multiple Golden Globe nominations!

Congratulations to The Americans for landing three Golden Globes nominations!
The Americans is having a solid awards year between the Emmys and now the Golden Globe nominations. Just a few months ago, Matthew Rhys walked off the Emmys stage with an award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series and the series received an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Writing. Earlier this week, Golden Globe nominations announced that The Americans is nominated for three whopping categories.
The nominations include Best Drama Series, Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series – Drama (Matthew Rhys), and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama (Keri Russell). The critically-acclaimed FX series aired its sixth and final season earlier this year, so these awards come at a very deserving time.
After years of being snubbed, The Americans are finally getting the recognition they deserve! How amazing is that? In fact, FX as a network walked away with 10 total nominations beating out media giants HBO and Amazon. Given the tough competition out there, it’s an impressive feat to accomplish.
If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years and don’t know about The Americans, here’s a brief recap. It’s a Russian spy thriller starring Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell (together in real life!). The story follows a couple that is living undercover as Russian spies living in a 1980’s America.
You are certainly missing out if you haven’t seen the series, so don’t waste any more time and go watch it! And if you don’t take our word for it, then look at this current awards season. It speaks highly in favor of The Americans.
In all three categories, the series and actors are up against some tough competition including Amazon’s Homecoming, Ozark’s Jason Bateman, and Killing Eve’s Sandra Oh. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out come Golden Globes time–but we will be rooting for The Americans to go out strong for their final awards season.
Be sure to catch The 76th Golden Globes on Jan. 6th on NBC!
