Escape at Dannemora may sweep at the Golden Globes

Don’t be surprised if Showtime’s Escape at Dannemora sweeps at this year’s Golden Globes.

Escape at Dannemora sort of crept into our lives unexpectedly, and blew us away with everything it had to offer. By the creative genius that is Ben Stiller comes a story based on true events about two prison inmates that escape with the help of a prison employee. Naturally, there is a dramatization of how things played out, but the cast and crew made every moment believable and genuine.

Not enough praise can be given to Patricia Arquette who plays the aloof and all too trusting Tilly. Her role as the prison employee that aids in the inmates’ escape is one I can never forget. The way she executes every nuance and mannerism is unreal, and it comes as no shock that she is up for a Golden Globe nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Limited Series.

If you’ve seen Escape at Dannemora, then you understand what I’m talking about. Honestly, she deserves to walk away with the award more than anyone else in the category. She was that good. Along with Arquette, the series itself is up for a nomination for Best Limited Series. It has very fierce competition, but it also stands out amongst its fellow nominees.

The manner in which Stiller brought life to this story is commendable. I, for one, did not know about these events, but the way Stiller captures every moment of it is amazing for someone we just write off as a silly comedian. He really brought his A-game and now his series is up against some of the best shows we’ve seen.

Escape at Dannemora has a good chance of sweeping their Golden Globe nominations and I’d have to say it’s all because of Arquette. If she wasn’t in it, the series would not have been what it was. Shout out to Paul Dano and Benicio Del Toro for kicking ass as the two inmates. They are worthy of recognition and were on par with Arquette’s performance.

I have a good feeling about Escape at Dannemora and I hope that I’m right come Sunday night!
