Ryan Murphy’s Ratched announces cast with Cynthia Nixon and Sharon Stone
Ryan Murphy’s latest project, Ratched, is yet another star-studded affair!
After making waves on network television, Ryan Murphy is making big moves at his new home on Netflix. His latest project will be Ratched, an origin story about Nurse Mildred Ratched, originally portrayed by Louise Fletcher in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Actress Sarah Paulson is set to play the younger version of the nurse. According to Deadline, the series will follow the young nurse’s descent into madness in 1974.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Murphy announced the cast. The lineup includes a few of his frequent collaborators, and an introduction of some new (but familiar) faces. The cast of Ratched will include Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct), Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City), Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story), Jon Jon Briones (American Horror Story: Apocalypse), Charlie Carver (Teen Wolf), Harriet Harris (Desperate Housewives), Hunter Parrish (Quantico), Amanda Plummer (Pulp Fiction), and Corey Stoll (The Strain).
Ratched has already scored a two-season, 18 episode order on Netflix. It will be the first Murphy series to hit the streaming service following his deal with Netflix from last year. Michael Douglas is one of the show’s producers. Paulson is also expected to produce through the Saul Zaentz Company alongside Paul Zaentz. According to Variety, Evan Romansky is set to co-executive produce after helping create the project.
Even though it’s still in the works, Ratched already sounds like our latest binge obsession on Netflix. Will you be watching when it’s released? Be sure to tell us in the comment section below!
