Netflix is rebooting the scariest TV show of all time with Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy.

In case you didn’t know, Unsolved Mysteries is the scariest TV show of all time and was easily one of the most haunting and intriguing things I experienced during my childhood.

There was never anything creepier than Robert Stack narrating an unexplainable phenomenon or an unsolved murder, a mysterious missing person or a spooky ghost story, or worst of all, spontaneous human combustion.

While the content was frightening enough, there was something about Stack’s presentation that somehow added to the scare factor. Perhaps he added a gravitas that lent credence to the unlikely events.

More from Netflix

We don’t have Robert Stack with us anymore, but Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy is rebooting the show with Netflix and original Unsolved Mysteries creators John Cosgrove and Terry Dunn Meurer.

The 12-part series will continue in the same format as the original, with a series presenter, witness and expert interviews, and dramatic re-enactments.

There is currently no news on who will be presenting the show, but it will be difficult to live up to the authority and passion provided by Robert Stack (Dennis Farina, who presented the show after Stack’s death, can likely relate to this).

This has to be great news for Cosgrove and Dunn Meuer, who have been trying to get Unsolved Mysteries back on the air for the last few years.

As recently as 2017, Cosgrove hinted at some broadcast possibilities and teased some exciting stories ideas for the show.

"“It’s too early to go into much detail, but we’ve had our research producers look into possible stories, and they’ve found some excellent ones which can be ready to go quickly.”"

They have both been very public in their efforts and have been active in the fan community. Considering the show hasn’t aired new episodes since 2010, the reboot is an amazing development for the production team.
