The Umbrella Academy – February 15

This one looks…unique.

My first impressions of the trailer are reverse Children of Men meets X-men: Apocalypse meets Mystery Men.

In October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth without having been pregnant when the day began. An eccentric millionaire adopts seven of them and they come to live in his mansion to learn about and develop their special abilities.

After the millionaire’s death, they learn that an apocalyptic event will happen in eight days and they must come together to prevent it from happening. This seems plausible, except that they’re all completely dysfunctional and maladjusted.

The series is based on the comic book series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. Ellen Page and Mary J. Blige star, just to name two!

Suburra: Season Two – February 22

This gritty Italian-language crime thriller is a prequel to the film Suburra and was Netflix’s first Italian-language television series.

Believe it or not, the series is based on true life events about the power struggles between mafia, politicians, and churchmen in Rome and Vatican City.

Who knew that a power struggle over development land could be so bloody and intense, but that’s what a good deal of the conflict is about.

Next. Game of Thrones characters and their Myers Briggs personality type. dark

It almost like the Italian version of The Wire, where the deepest and most complicated issues could stem from the simplest and most mundane of things.

This is how the real world works.
