After a break of over 2 years, Netflix has finally released a new trailer for the second season of The OA, which announces the new season’s premiere date.

The head-scratching series, created by Britt Marling and Zal Batmanglij, is set to return on March 22, and from the looks of the trailer it will both build on and extend everything the series explored in the first season.

In season 1, Marling’s blind Prairie Johnson returned home after disappearing seven years before with her ability to see restored. She called herself The OA and gathered an eclectic group to tell the strange and fantastic tale of what happened during her mysterious disappearance.

Based on the new trailer, OA successfully hopped to a new dimension where she learns her life is completely different from the one she knew. There, she joins forces with a private detective, Karim Washington (played by new cast member Kingsley Ben-Adair), searching for a missing teen. She also once again becomes Hap’s captive. Meanwhile, back in the original dimension, the group OA amassed is further delving into the truth of what she shared with them.

The first season of The OA was a mind-bending trip. Throughout its eight episodes, it was hard to decide whether OA was being honest or if she was an unreliable narrator. The events going into season 2 appear to confirm there was some truth to her story. Based on the trailer, it looks like the new season will explore what it all means and how it’s all connected.
