What does Daniel Salazar’s return mean for Fear the Walking Dead?
By Derek Johns
How will Fear the Walking Dead handle the return of a fan favorite?
The Walking Dead universe has never been shy about leaving character’s fate a massive question mark for extended periods (as long as seven seasons even) and Fear the Walking Dead character Daniel Salazar (Ruben Blades) is no exception.
When Daniel was last seen on Fear the Walking Dead, he had been shot in the face and left to die by Victor (Colman Domingo) way back in season 3. Since then one of the bigger mysteries of the show is what happened to him after that, which went unexplored throughout the entirety of season 4.
Now that it’s been officially confirmed that Daniel will be returning to the show for season 5, this raises a whole new question. What will this new development mean for Daniel and Victor?
According to showrunner Andrew Chambliss, the reunion between the two will put their respective quests for redemption to the test.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Chambliss stated:
"“Strand is seeking his own redemption, and I think the thing that will happen when Daniel Salazar enters the story is it’s going to make both men question who they are, whether they can overcome their past, and really test whether Strand has become a new man.”"
Season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead is set to premiere on AMC on June 2nd.
