Designated Survivor: 60 Days (July 1)

With Netflix having saved CBS’s Designated Survivor from cancellation, the streaming service has taken the opportunity to cash in on the South Korean remake of the series. Designated Survivor: 60 Days stars Ji Jin-hee as Secretary of Environment Park Mu-jin who unexpectedly becomes the leader of his country when everyone in the presidential line of succession ahead of him dies in a tragedy.

Netflix has ordered 16 episodes, which will drop weekly after they have aired in Korea. The main difference between the two series is a number of extra characters in the remake and the premise behind the 60 Days subtitle. Park Mu-jin will is only acting president for the next 60 days, which gives him a limited amount of time to solve the mystery of the attack which killed the Korean officials in the first place.

Stranger Things: Season Three (July 4)

This is probably the biggest release of the month, the much anticipated and highly hyped third season of nostalgia bomb Stranger Things. The trailers were equal parts fun, epic, and frightening and included a cheesy low budget local commercial for the new (and sinister) Hawkins Mall. As if there wasn’t nostalgia enough, welcome back to the weekends of your adolescence where the cool (and possibly only) thing to do in middle America was to hang out at the mall with your friends.

The season has already premiered and is currently sitting at a cool 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, so it seems your valuable bingeing time would be well invested. This season sees most of our favorite characters returning, plus the additions of Hawkins City Mayor Cary Elwes, the new kid on the block Maya Hawkes, Jake Busey as a local reporter, and Francesca Reale as a lifeguard at the Hawkins Community Pool. The gang seems to be having a perfect, idyllic summer with Eleven settling into a normal life with her new family, friends, and a teenage romance – but underneath it all, something evil and deadly is still lurking and only Hawkins best can stop it
