11 Netflix Originals to keep you away from the July heat
Money Heist: Part 3 (July 19)
This is a Spanish language heist thriller about a mysterious mastermind called The Professor. They gather a team of criminal experts together in order to infiltrate the Royal Mint of Spain, laying siege to the facility and holding it in seclusion in order to print billions of dollars. The first season of Money Heist was intended to be a limited series event, but when Netflix got their hands on it they quickly renewed for further seasons.
Season three sees the thieves escaping with their bounty and trying to start a new idyllic life in hiding, but quickly find themselves on the run from the law and fighting for their lives. The tagline for season three claims it’s not about money anymore, it’s about family – now that they have their money, that is. What I find slightly humorous is the difference between the English title and the original Spanish title for the series. In classic American fashion, the English title is much more dramatic and to the point, while the Spanish title – La Casa de Papel (The Paper House) – is perhaps more subtle and thoughtful.
Queer Eye: Season Four (July 19)
I love Queer Eye because it is so much more than an average makeover show. In reality, its less of a makeover show than it is a be-more-confidently-yourself show. They take what makes someone unique and beautiful and give them the tools and confidence to flaunt it. So many makeover shows want to hide quirkiness and make their subjects conform to generic standards of fashion or beauty, but Queer Eye celebrates diversity and individuality.
Season four will take place in Kansas City, Missouri with all the members of fab five returning: Antoni Porowski (Food & Wine), Bobby Berk (Interior Design), Jonathan Van Ness (Grooming), Karamo Brown (Culture), and Tan France (Fashion). Not only that, but Netflix has already confirmed that the series will return for a fifth season that will be set in Philadelphia, PA. If you need a heartwarming boost of confidence and love, all you need to do is spend an hour with the fab five.
