The 2019 Emmys nominations announcement is just days away, and we’re anxiously waiting to see who shines the brightest from the past year of television.

Emmys are always a fun time of year as we get to celebrate the year’s best television shows/movies. But, perhaps, what is even more exciting than the award function itself is waking up in the morning to catch the Emmys nomination announcement. It’s always a fun, albeit early, affair because there’s nothing quite like the finding out whether or not your favorite show made the cut.

While some are pleased with the nominations and some are angered by the snubs, it’s always fun to do some predicting ahead of time. I’m a sucker for limited series television shows and always end up investing in that category more than most. Last year’s winner, American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, was a show I had predicted would walk away with many awards, and it did!

This year’s Emmys are a bit interesting because many of the usual shows that are usually a part of the awards didn’t make the cut this year (shows premiering June 1, 2018 – May 31, 2019, were only accepted) including Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, HBO’s Big Little Lies, amongst many more. Of course, this frees up a lot of room for other shows to get their moment but let’s not forget Game of Thrones is in the running this year for drama series.

Enough people are fawning over the drama series category, so let’s talk about limited series’. There are a few that I’m fairly certain will be nominated, and a couple that may yet surprise us even though we are not expecting it. As we discuss the shows likely to snag a nomination in the Best Limited Series category, remember that if you’re eager to watch the announcements live, they will air at 11:30 AM EST on Tuesday, July 16th. They will be hosted/announced by Good Place’s D’Arcy Carden and Hangover’s Ken Jeong (that’s more than enough reason to tune in, isn’t it?

Okay, let’s talk about the Limited Series category now, shall we?

Let me start off by listing the five shows I’m certain will be nominated. If you look at the last year, there weren’t that many limited series shows, and with American Horror Story and Big Little Lies (wasn’t eligible either way) now considered dramas, it really dwindles down the list.
