With regards to acclaim, the English Office won over all critics we surveyed, along with many prestigious awards: “Won 2 Golden Globes, and another 21 wins & 15 nominations.”
Whilst the American show “won 1 Golden Globe and had another 46 wins & 186 nominations”. ‘Outstanding’ is the general notoriety attributed to either coup.
IMDb rating comparisons are as such: UK version scored 8.5/10 from 87,375 surveyed making it 174 on the Top Rated TV list. The US version managed 8.8/10 from 301,798. That puts it at number 50 overall with Internet Movie Database.
The perceptive dynamic of interactions bring the most humor, not just laugh out loud, but prevalent is that ‘hmm’ sound of satisfaction we mutter to ourselves.
One Guardian critic uses the ‘everyone remembers where they were when President Kennedy was assassinated’ analogy to describe the weight of quality from when he first saw the show, speaking of its timelessness. I’ll proclaim that if you like the American version, Curb Your Enthusiasm or Alan Partridge – then you’ll be enamored with this one.
Notables to emerge from the original on to the world stage include: superstar Martin Freeman, Pirates of the Caribbean’s Mackenzie Crook and Ralph Ineson of Game of Thrones.
Show Snob rates The Office five out of five stars. A fresh bar set for mockumentaries and spoofs the world over – literally. Catch it soon in case it leaves Netflix like its offspring.
